David Enos
Jazz / Fusion / Progressive Rock / Blues
Bio
Raised in the San Francisco bay area, David first picked up the bass at the age of 15 and was quickly playing in rock,
country, and R&B bands in local area clubs. Eager to learn more about music, David joined his high school's jazz program, and within a year was named the school's
"Outstanding Jazz Musician" and awarded a scholarship. At Chabot College, David met what was to be the most important musical influence of his life, pianist Frank
Sumares, who exposed David to the music of Jazz greats like Oscar Peterson and John Coltrane. David continued his studies at San Jose State University, where he
received a Bachelor's degree.
Over the past few years, David Enos has established himself as one of today's premiere bassists, equally accomplished
on both acoustic and electric basses. David is not only in demand as a live performer, but is also a sought-after session player, working with such preeminent
artists as Arturo Sandoval and David Benoit.
Teaching Philosophy
"My teaching style has always centered on four things: discipline, practicality, versatility, and innovation.
Discipline is necessary to succeed in a competitive industry like music; practicality is fundamental in procuring skills employers want; versatility is essential
to make a living by being able to take a wider variety of musical work; and innovation is important in defining something that makes you special as a musician.
"What employers in the music industry want" is always at the forefront of my methodology. It is because of this teaching style that I have been fortunate enough
to send many deserving students out on gigs."
