Daniel Brummel began studying music privately at age six, attended the L.A. County High School for the Arts as a composer and singer, and graduated from UCLA in 2006 with a degree in music composition. His main instruments are electric bass, guitar, and piano, although Daniel is also proficient on most other fretted instruments as well as clarinet, trumpet, harmonica, drums and percussion. Daniel’s work can be heard on more than a dozen widely distributed albums and films, and he has worked in various roles as a composer, performer, arranger and producer with groups such as The Elected, Gowns, Bad Dudes, and Monstro.
Daniel is a founding member of the hard rock band Ozma, who have released four albums for various international labels such as Kung Fu and Sony BMG. Ozma has toured internationally with acts such as Weezer, Nada Surf, Jimmy Eat World, Rooney, and the Warped Tour, as well as appearing on festival bills with acts such as No Doubt, Guns and Roses, and Morrissey. Bass Player magazine ran a two page feature article on Daniel in June 2003. Other areas of focus for Daniel include fingerstyle acoustic folk guitar and Italian and Russian keyboard music. His teaching style stresses improvisation, deep listening, form, harmonic theory, and exploring and mastering the technical possibilities of the instrument.
