Bio

Melodee is active as a private voice instructor, performing vocalist, music lecturer, stage director and adjudicator. She earned her Bachelor's of Music and Master's of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. She also attended the prestigious Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. Melodee has been teaching voice for over 15 years and has sung professionally with various opera and theatre companies in the United States and Europe and was a semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Auditions. She was a featured singer in a concert honoring the late Joe Strummer of The Clash and also sang backup for singer/songwriter, Linda Perry, in a benefit concert performed by Christina Aguilera. She sings in the Abe Lincoln Story, an L.A. alternative rock band, and has sung with Larry Harlow (Fania All-Stars), Ben Eshbach (The Sugar Plastic), TJ Chill (Afrika Bambaataa's Zulu Nation), and toured Cuba singing with Paul De Castro. She directed "Goyescas" (Lyric Opera of Los Angeles) and "La Verbena de la Paloma" (Cal State L.A.), and has lectured on zarzuela for the LA Opera and many universities.

Teaching Philosophy

"My voice students will learn how to sing correctly, incorporating proper posture and breath support while learning a solid, healthy vocal technique that can be used for any style of music. They will gain power in their voice and increase their vocal range while building the confidence needed to be a real singer and performer. I am a full-service voice teacher and work with my students on proper stage presence, emotional artistry and stage movement as well as proper mic technique, and I help my students prepare for their professional gigs, music auditions and demos."
