Bio

Oren Waters is considered a true gem to his students. Oren became the anchor tenor in what was to become the nation's most successful backup singing group, known as "The Waters." They have over 260 gold and over 100 platinum albums to their credits with artists ranging from Neil Diamond, Patti La Belle, Paul Simon, John Fogerty, Janet and Michael Jackson; to movie sound tracks including "Happy Feet", "The Lion King", "Little Mermaid 3", "Shriek", "The Matrix" and "American Gangster"; and television theme songs including "The Jeffersons", "Show Time at the Apollo", "Murphy Brown" and "Fame". Despite a prominent background and a demanding schedule, Oren manages to dedicate his time and passion to CCM students. He is known to increase vocal ranges through intense warm-ups and exercise. Students consider Oren to be a knowledgeable instructor with a knack for teaching and a heart that cares. CCM is proud to have Oren on their faculty team!

Teaching Philosophy

"California College of Music is all about the student and the one-on-one attention that each of our students gets while attending. When it comes to teaching, my focus is the individual student and their specific needs as well as what their expectations are when they walk out the door. I push my students to their limits and make sure they leave class learning something new every time. I always start from the basics and shock my students with the new ways they can prepare their voices before coming into my classroom. I like breaking barriers and becoming the student, letting the student take over to teach. This helps them explore themselves and break out of their shells."
