ENGINEERING AND MUSIC PRODUCTION
Engineering and Music Production Major
The Engineering and Music Production major at the California College of Music is undoubtedly one of the most innovative and modern programs available anywhere. Each student gains the skills necessary to become a professional recording engineer, or electronic music producer/beatmaker. Our program is structured around the current needs of the contemporary recording industry, and extensive instruction in the industry standard Pro Tools recording environment is provided.
Students are taught both analog and digital recording techniques by our legendary Grammy-winning instructors, learning the secrets of engineering and mixing hit records. High-end recording studio skills are taught through hands-on interactive instruction on the same equipment found in today's state-of-the-art studios.
Students interested in beatmaking and DJing will benefit from our extensive MIDI Programming course, structured around sequencing in Apple Logic Pro, Propellerhead Reason and Digidesign Pro Tools.
Unique DJing and Digital Recording courses
CCM's association with industry professionals in the evolving music industry has led to the introduction of the cutting edge Turntable Technology and Recording Art courses.
The Turntable Technology course is a new, exciting course taught by professional hip hop DJs. Students are introduced to the world of Hip Hop and its subgenres, learning the eclectic Disk Jockeying skills necessary to succeed in any club situation, musical collaboration, or recording session.

The Recording Art course teaches students the endless creative possibilities that are presented when the world of DJing is blended with the world of digital recording. California College of Music is proud to be the only music school on the West Coast offering these highly sought after courses.
Our elective classes provide students with new perspectives in audio engineering and music production. One such elective is the Electronic Fusion Ensemble, where producers, DJs, singers, and instrumentalists are thrown together to produce innovative, genre-defying music.
