CCM's music major is designed for students who want to learn music theory and performance technique. Our students are taught the basic musical language necessary to communicate with other musicians, read written music, learn songs by ear, and compose and spontaneously improvise their own music. Our industry professional and university trained instructors approach modern and classic styles from many different angles. Core Classes for the music major include:
Music Theory
Ear and Rhythm Training
Technique
Improvisation
Music workshop and lab classes expose students to different musical genres and new playing and/or singing techniques.
Expand your music school experience with diverse elective classes
Our exciting Elective Classes give students the opportunity to learn a second instrument, or try something different that may lead to the development of a new skill. Elective options include Music Arranging, Turntable Techniques, MIDI Programming, Audio Engineering, etc.
Hone your performance technique in ensemble classes
Our Ensemble students meet as a group, learning how to work together to shape their music.
