INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM
Learn English in a personal environment at CCM
The Intensive English Program at the California College of Music is designed for non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their English language skills. CCM offers a three-level IEP program with Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Levels. Classes cover the basics of English language usage and comprehension including practical vocabulary, basic language patterns and the essentials of listening, reading, writing and speaking. Each level lasts 11 weeks (about three months), for the complete program. Classes are held daily, Monday through Friday. Each level is divided into two combined skill areas:
1) reading/writing/grammar
2) oral skills
IEP – Beginner Level
Focuses on fundamental skills involved in listening, speaking, reading and writing English, as well as basic grammar. Using the Top Notch Book 2, students develop basic communication skills for everyday life in the United States, practicing listening and basic conversation on daily topics.
IEP – Intermediate Level
Focuses on communication skills, improving students’ comprehension of more complex phrases and building their vocabulary. Using the Top Notch Book 3, students create dialogues together, developing spoken grammar, listening skills, and clear communication.
IEP – Advanced Level
Focuses on interpersonal communication and academic skills. Using the Summit Book 1, students develop advanced speaking and listening skills, write essays, and participate in in-depth conversations, group discussions, presentations, and evaluation of lectures.
