Music Program
CCM's music major program provides aspiring musicians and vocalists with the skills necessary to compete successfully in the international music industry. Talented instructors from the professional music world train our music majors in the language, history, and theory of music required to collaborate and communicate with other professional musicians and producers.
In a personalized environment, students are exposed to all different styles of contemporary music, developing the knowledge, ability, and confidence to shine in any musical situation. Classes in blues, jazz, rock, pop, R&B, and hip hop are taught by CCM’s eminent faculty, who are all here for one purpose: to pass on their extensive knowledge to the next generation of music makers.
Core classes are conducted in lectures, workshops and labs where you will be introduced to different musical genres and techniques. The curriculum was designed to encourage improvisation, composition, songwriting, and performance.

The centerpiece of the Music Program at CCM is the Contemporary Ensemble class, which fosters the valuable ability to collaborate and communicate successfully with other musicians in a productive, professional, and respectful manner. All our students come together to form their own Contemporary Ensemble, selecting songs to play, creating impressive arrangements, and presenting complete concerts to the public at least once per quarter at local venues and events, such as the Terrace, Pasadena Jazz Institute, and the Make Music Pasadena Festival. On the night of the CCM Concert Series each quarter, our students continue to amaze themselves, their teachers, and local music lovers with stunning performances!
