This groundbreaking new course offered only at California College of Music is designed to create professional DJs, turntablists, and beatmakers. Taught by industry professionals, students will learn the contemporary art of Hip Hop & Club DJing, using the turntables as their musical instrument. Students are instructed in the whole range of modern turntable techniques including:
Beat Mixing
Scratching
Beat Juggling
Phrasing
Phasing
Recording Art
In addition to turntable techniques, the class focuses on beatmaking and production skills. In-depth instruction is provided in the Apple Logic Pro recording environment, and the art of sampling and the basic principles of digital audio recording are taught using Pro Tools, Apple Logic Pro, and other digital recording packages. Our groundbreaking course also provides instruction in the revolutionary new digital DJing package Serato Scratch Live.
Upon completion, students are not only able to sequence and record their own beats, but to perform professionally as DJs. CCM is proud to be the only music school on the West Coast offering this innovative groundbreaking course!

Requirements :
1) High School diploma or equivalent.
2) 17 years old and up (there's a placement test) 3) TOEFL score of 450 is strongly recommended for non-English speaking students.
